New Girl In Town
Part 18
Walls were falling apart and rubbles of concretes were crashing from ceilings. The whole of SmartBrain's units were affected, causing an earthquake. Zahn, carrying Leah with both arms, had difficulty walking straight. Standing in front of the elevator, he immediately stomped on the button with his leg.
"Oh no! The lift's jammed. Maybe I kicked to hard", he gave a thought. Actually, it was due to the surrounding that the elevator had broke down. Zahn turned clockwise and scanned for another exit. And there he found a staircase after 360 degrees of turning. It was right beside the elevator. He kicked the door open and ran downstairs, watching every step to prevent from hurting Leah.
"Guys, let's get ready. In case Zahn and Leah need help, we must assist them in the very possible way", suggested Rinoa. The friends agreed and rushed closer to the building. But it seemed that one person was missing from the group. Tiqi was the first to notice while the friends were hurrying themselves to the building.
"Hey where's Mal?", asked Tiqi curiously.
"I thought he was with you", replied Ryuuziq.
"Never mind him. Maybe he got something more important to do", supported Aeonex.
Before the friends ran off, Mal went to the opposite direction to pick up something which was of value. He needed it to get home fast.
"Oh no! The building's going to collapse any second from now. What should I do?", Zahn mumbled to himself. He was already at the 10th floor. He then stumbled upon a cracked wall and striked it with his feet. The wall was destroyed and a landscape of the outside view could be contemplated from where Zahn was standing. He glanced to the very first floor and grinned his teeth. How high it was from his position. But just by doing that, it caught the eyes of his friends.
"Hey Zahn! You made it!", exclaimed Ryuuziq.
"Yeah I'm okay for now! And Leah's unconscious! The place's going to blow in a minute! Any idea of escaping?", Zahn panicked slightly.
Aeonex then suddenly spoke up, "Use this web to land your butt on! Now!".
The rest had no idea how Aeonex got a very wide and thick spider web. He is, of course, a nature lover. Without wasting more time, the friends helped together to hold up the web. Zahn had no other choice but to make a 50m freefall together with the unconscious Leah.
"Banzaaaaai!", he screamed while holding Leah very firmly.
Fortunately, no injuries were caused during the fall and he was able to gather again with the others.
The highest floor of SmartBrain exploded for the second time. Smoke and dust particles were seen polluting the fresh air.
"Looks like we don't have time to chat. Time to leave", commanded Zahn. He led the whole group far away from the building and there Mal appeared with a surprise. A vehicle suddenly got out from the shadows and Mal stopped in front of the rest.
"Now I see why he was missing", Tiqi felt relieved. At that time, SmartBrain became more and more disastrous as rubbles of concrete were beginning to fall from the sky.
"Quick, guys! Get in the car! It's time to leave", ordered Mal.
The moment everyone was in, Mal drove off at full speed, trying to avoid falling rocks. It was then time for the whole group of friends to head home.
